Step into the timeless elegance of Amhuinnsuidhe Castle and experience a guided tour celebrating its remarkable history, Victorian architecture, distinguished art collection, and breathtaking island setting.

 

Explore the castle’s graceful public rooms while discovering fascinating stories of its heritage, before taking in the ever-changing views across Loch Leosavay towards the island of Taransay and the dazzling white beaches of South Harris.
To complete your visit, guests can choose to enjoy a delicious light lunch or indulge in a traditional afternoon tea, served in the elegant surroundings of the castle, making for a truly memorable Hebridean experience.

 

Wind your way through the drawing room, library and bedrooms, accompanied by a resident guide who brings to life the stories behind the collection’s remarkable works, including the largest private collection of William McTaggart paintings and works by Renoir and Chagall.

 

Discover the legend of Lady Sophie Scott, the castle’s Edwardian ghost, who is said to still watch over Amhuinnsuidhe and its guests. Keep an eye out-you may just feel her presence during your visit.

Experience an unforgettable day of history, heritage, and wilderness with this exclusive guided tour of Amhuinnsuidhe Castle and the spectacular Glen Meavaig.

 

Your day begins with a private tour of the elegant Victorian castle, where you’ll discover its fascinating history, remarkable art collection, and stunning architecture while enjoying panoramic views across Loch Leosavay towards Taransay and the white sands of South Harris.

 

From the castle, you’ll travel by estate 4×4 through the remote and beautiful Glen Meavaig, following private estate tracks into one of the Outer Hebrides’ most spectacular landscapes. Accompanied by our experienced estate ghillies, you’ll learn about the area’s wildlife, sporting heritage, and conservation while keeping watch for golden eagles, red deer, otters, and other native species.


Midway through the safari, you’ll stop at one of the estate’s traditional fishing bothies to enjoy a relaxed picnic lunch beside a roaring fire, surrounded by the peace and beauty of the Hebridean wilderness.
