Uig & Hamanavay Estate
Fishing and Field Sports

Allow our experienced ghillies to guide you to exceptional salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing in one of the most secluded wildernesses in the world. Excellent fishing is available on the loch just by Hamanavay House, and guests benefit from exclusive fishing on the Hamanavay and Red River Systems.

The estate also offers excellent field sports, with opportunities to enjoy superb stalking and walked-up grouse and wildfowl shooting.

Fishing

The estate has the exclusive fishing rights on the Hamanavay and Red River Systems, both enjoying good runs of sea trout and salmon. Extensive wild brown trout fishing is available in season.

With four principal lochs, Craobhaig, Cro Criosdaig, Dibadale and Raonasgail, and two river systems, there is considerable variety available. This includes extensive river fishing (subject to water conditions), consistent loch fishing from boats, and estuary fishing at river mouths. The sea trout fishing has been carefully conserved and is of outstanding quality.

This is some of the most private and secluded fishing in the British Isles. The estate applies a strict fly-fishing only policy.  Fishing is included in the high season rate.

This is one of the few land-locked estates on Lewis, and it’s surrounded by other great estates that constantly feed game into Morsgail Estate. The estate is particularly celebrated for its prolific salmon river and renowned stag forest.

Uig & Hamanavay Estate offers excellent field sports, with opportunities for superb stalking and walked-up grouse and wildfowl shooting – all in the estate’s remarkable scenery.

    Macnab Challenge at Amhuinnsuidhe Castle

The modern Macnab Challenge: bagging a salmon, stag, and brace of grouse within one day between dawn and dusk, is derived from Buchan’s tale. It is a thrilling test of sporting skill (with a dash of luck thrown in).
