Location

Hamanavay House is reached via an eight-mile Land Rover track, which transports visitors to a completely peaceful, highly secluded, wild paradise. A four-wheel-drive vehicle with good clearance is needed to drive the 40 minute track to the house. If guests are unable to bring a 4×4, we’ll be happy to help you hire one.

The 40-minute journey along the track is a wildlife safari in itself, with regular sightings of golden eagles and red deer framed against the dramatic views north towards Uig Sands and the panorama of the North Harris Hills to the south. The start of the track is about 50 minutes from Stornoway airport and ferry.

Choose the Uig & Hamanavay Estate for its stunning location far off the beaten track, yet close to the sea

Self-catering stay

The house has a fully equipped kitchen so you can easily prepare fresh meals using the abundant local produce. While the nearest supermarket is in the island’s capital, Stornoway, 10 minutes’ drive away from the end of the track there is a community shop for basic supplies.

If you’re self-catering and would like a night off cooking, the estate can provide delicious freshly cooked meals to be stocked in your fridge that you can simply reheat, all prepared by Amhuinnsuidhe Castle’s chef, by prior arrangement.
